Ambassador Walles with Amor Amati, Director of ISET-Sidi Bouzid (Instituts Superieurs des Etudes Technologiques)
The U.S. Embassy is pleased to announce a new linkage program between the Instituts Superieurs des Etudes Technologiques (ISET) Sidi Bouzid and the University of Colorado: Tunisia Job Opportunities for Business Scale-up, or Tunisia JOBS.
This $500,000, three-year university-to-university linkage program focuses on promoting water management, energy efficiency and renewable energy technologies in the agricultural sector. The American partner institution is the University of Colorado, an institution renowned for natural resource management engineering.
As part of this program, new courses will be developed that focus on practical education in design, evaluation, implementation, water management, energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Local businesses and communities will be actively engaged to create relevant internships for students to work on solving local community problems. U.S. Ambassador Walles said, “Tunisian officials and scholars have commented that a key challenge for Tunisian higher education is closing the classroom-to-workplace gap, which involves developing specialized skills among the workforce to increase their wage-earning potential. Tunisia JOBS will help bridge that gap.”
The U.S. Embassy looks forward to continuing collaboration with Tunisia’s Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research (MoHE) and engagement with students and administrators on campuses throughout the country to promote exchange opportunities, host speakers and cultural envoys and to develop linkages with American universities.
