Persons with Disabilities Advocate their Civil Rights
Through the LEAD Initiative, Handicap Inter-national in partnership with MEPI and their local partner “Le Collec-tif Tunisien pour La Promotion des Droits des Personnes en Situation de Handicap,” is training more than 1,000 Tunisian civil society advocates in Tunisia’s 24 governorates.

USAID re-opens office in Tunisia

On Friday, November 14, the U.S. Embassy held a press conference to showcase the Tunisians who will be participating in the GES 2014 which will take place in Marrakech November 19-21.

Transfer of Night Vision Devices to the Tunisian Armed Forces
At a ceremony on Friday, November 7 attended by U.S. Ambassador Jake Walles, Minister of Defense Ghazi Jeribi, and Brigadier General Bechir Bedoui, the U.S. Embassy transferred Night Vision Devices valued at nearly $2 million to the Tunisian Armed Forces, highlighting the strong and growing strategic partnership between the United States and Tunisia.

Remarks By Ambassador Walles On Veterans Day
I am honored to be here today on this solemn occasion and to preside over this ceremony that pays tribute to the 2,841 fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen and Marines buried here and further recognizes on the wall behind me the names of 3,724 men and women missing in action. It has been more than seventy years since U.S., British and Free French forces landed in Morocco and Algeria during Operation Torch to begin the North Africa Campaign.

U.S. Donates Equipment to Ministry of the Interior
This week the United States donated to the Tunisian security forces law enforcement officer safety equipment including bulletproof vests, helmets, shields, and other personnel protective gear. The donation was part of an ongoing program that includes training to support the Tunisian security forces in their operations against groups attempting to destabilize the country.
