Study of the United States Institutes for Student Leaders

The Embassy of the United States is pleased to announce a call for the Study of the United States Institutes for Student Leaders  program for summer 2009.

Intensive five week summer courses at American universities are designed to develop and enhance the student’s leadership, team building, collective problem-solving skills, effective communications, and management skills for diverse organizational settings. Students  have the opportunity to explore U.S. history and culture to expand their leadership skills and knowledge. Volunteer opportunities will complement classroom activity and coursework in order for students to observe and  learn how leadership is conceived.

These institutes will host first through third year undergraduate students who are 25 years of age or younger, for a series of five week courses during the summer of 2009.  The program will consists of leadership training, community service, educational travel, and follow-up-activities from June 28 through August 2, 2009.  Candidates should be mature, responsible, independent, open-minded, tolerant and thoughtful, and have a strong interest in learning about the U.S., its history, society, culture, value and institutions, broadly defined.

  • The Study of the United States Institutes Program will cover international travel and all program costs within the United States.
  • All candidates must have strong English language skills in order to be considered.
  • Complete applications, including a CV, should be submitted no later than January 27, 2009.
