JCI's Cultural Day features foreign Embassies

Tunis, May 21, 2009 - In the framework of promoting the Junior Chamber International World Congress to be held In November 2009 in Tunisia with over five thousand participants expect to come from over 160 countries, the Tunis chapter of JCI organized an international fair entitled “Le Monde a Tunis” on Sunday May 17th at a hotel in downtown Tunis. The embassy has regularly provided support to JCI including a Middle East Partnership Initiative (MEPI) local grant in 2005 to The Junior Chamber International (JCI) of Monastir  for its project entitled “Empowering Women and Implementing Positive Changes”.

The United States of America was among eleven other countries participating in the fair The U.S. booth offered various materials in English, information on grants offered by MEPI and pamphlets detailing U.S. government sponsored exchange programs. In addition to the information provided at the booth, Cara Fria, a Tunisian country band, played music inviting listeners to discover a different side of American culture. Visitors enjoyed stopping by the American booth, asking about different opportunities offered by the U.S. embassy and having a taste of American music.

JCI is an international nongovernmental organization connecting youth from all over the world. It has more than 200 000 members from 125 countries. JCI aims at developing leadership skills and responsibility of young people. http://www.jci.cc/
